Deeply disappointed teenager Daniel was supposed to spend the summer visiting his Dad in Florida but now must spend it with his librarian mum in Bagnold. Both the black-clad, long haired, heavy metal fan son and his well-intentioned single mum try to cope with the situation in very different ways.

Sweetly drawing you into the wobbly relationship between Sue Bagnold and her metalhead son, who'd rather listen to Metallica than his mother. Long-suffering Sue is sympathetically portrayed by Monica Dolan, with Earl Cave's Daniel a suitably lank-haired, pale-skinned picture of adolescent angst failing to get on with each other over an interminable summer in the epically boring British suburbs.”
